NewPipe.
By Team NewPipe
NewPipe is a free Android app for YouTube and PeerTube. It avoids proprietary Google APIs, lets you choose a resolution, and can save video, audio, or captions for offline playback. Videos can keep playing in the background or in a movable popup. Subscriptions, playlists, bookmarks, and history stay on the device. Team NewPipe distributes it on F-Droid and through GitHub releases.
The F7 Insight
Background audio and a popup player cover the two ways people keep a video going while doing something else. F7 likes that those tools sit next to on-device subscriptions, so the useful parts do not depend on a store account.
