Delta Chat.
By Delta Chat contributors
Delta Chat is a decentralized messenger. The homepage describes instant messaging with multiple profiles and devices, signup through interoperable chatmail relays, web apps inside chats, and audited end-to-end encryption against network and server attacks. The Android client is GPL-3.0-or-later and links Google Play, F-Droid, and other downloads. Neither page states a monetary download price.

The F7 Insight
A messenger gets more interesting when the address is not trapped in one company's directory. Delta Chat keeps the Android app on ordinary Internet standards and chatmail, so the encryption story and the account story are the same product.
